About Best Cyclotron Systems

Best Cyclotron Systems (BCS) has been established in Springfield, Virginia, U.S.A., for the design and production of commercial cyclotrons.  The company is a subsidiary of Best Medical International, a company renowned in the field of medical instrumentation and radiation therapy.  Cyclotrons are manufactured and tested at Best Theratronics in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.  BCS is currently focused on four different energy cyclotrons — the 15, 25, 35 and 70 MeV negative hydrogen ion accelerators — as well as the Tennessee-designed B-100 Cyclotron and the new BG-95 Self-Shielded Cyclotron.

Cyclotron Characteristics

All BEST’s cyclotrons have room temperature magnets, deep valley design with four radial sectors, two dees in opposite valleys, external ion source and simultaneous beam extraction on opposite lines.  See below for details about our cyclotron models.

The main characteristics of the cyclotron magnets are shown in the following table.

Energy Extraction
Energy

B-100 Cyclotron

B-100

The B-100 Biomarker Generator is a revolutionary development in radiopharmaceutical production that delivers a single or batch dose of [18F]FDG, and additional advanced [18F] biomarkers, "on demand".  The system provides integration of all components needed to produce and qualify PET biomarkers into a single, self-contained system that occupies a fraction of the space required by conventional solutions, simplifying the implementation of PET.

BG-95 Self-Shielded Cyclotron

BG-95

The BG-95 is a sub-compact, self-shielded 9.5 MeV cyclotron.  Features include a low energy compact system, allowing it to be placed next to a PET/CT, plus a chemistry module, easy to operate push-button graphic interface and much more.  Isotopes it is capable of producing include 18FDG, Na18F, 18F−MISO, 18FLT, 18F−Choline, 18F−DOPA, 18F−PSMA, 11C, 13N and 68Ga.
